Ongoing Programs

As a part of the West Michigan community, we're always looking for ways to offer support for those who need it, as well as provide information to churches, schools and any other organizations who might benefit from some insights into the funeral and grieving processes. 

Caregiver of the Month

In appreciation for the selfless service provided by caregivers in our community, Cook Funeral & Cremation Services is presenting a program called Caregiver of the Month. Every Caregiver of the Month will receive:

• Recognition in the Advance & the Cook Funeral Services website 

• Gift certificate for dinner for two 

• Caregiver devotional

Colors of Honor Memorial Military Medals Display

This unique military medals display includes the background information and symbolism of each military medal awarded to our servicemen and women from WWII to present. The Colors of Honor Memorial is open to the public Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, in Grandville. The Cook Family is proud to be able to express their sincere gratitude to all of our servicemen and women both past and present. When you stop by be sure to help yourself to a cup of hot coffee, fresh baked cookie and a free Veterans Benefits brochure.

Located at the Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, our Lending Library is another component of the Cook Funeral & Cremation Services aftercare program. From poetry albums to grieving resources for children and teens, this collection includes more than 250 titles and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Lest They Be Forgotten Video Series

The Cook family is proud to announce the recent addition of Lest They Be Forgotten to their Lending Library. This new video series of powerful documentaries is based on the first-hand accounts of soldiers who survived the D-Day invasion, the Battle of Iwo Jima, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Audiences, young and old alike, find that these films bring history to life and provide very stirring testimonies to the struggle for freedom.

Pastors Breakfast

Part of serving our families involves working closely with their churches. Our Pastor's Breakfasts are a great way for those of us at Cook to get to know neighborhood clergy and vice versa. Cook Service Scholarship

In celebration of 50 years of service to our community, the Cook family is offering two $500 scholarships to a high school senior who has demonstrated a commitment to community service and is pursuing a career in human services. By creating this scholarship, the Cook family hopes to continue to invest in the community’s future and help students achieve their lifetime dreams. To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must complete the following:

• Maintain a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
• Describe their involvement in the various service opportunities of their high school (i.e. school government, clubs, service organizations, etc.)
• Complete a minimum of 10 hours of service to the community (i.e. volunteer activities in nonprofit organizations, community involvement projects, etc.) within the past year.
• Briefly describe their interest in and motivation for pursuing their chosen career path.
• Submit a written nomination from one of their teachers.
• Complete an application form.
